The Mid-Suffolk Light Railway held its annual Middy in the War Years event last Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

Visitors turned up to enjoy steam train rides and get up close with a range of former military vehicles.

There were also displays and exhibits documenting life in Britain during the Second World War.

During the day some re-enactors staged demonstrations with replica 40s weapons.

Although it is an annual event, this year it also commemorated the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Among the visitors was Bernard Sharpe, the last surviving veteran of the 1940 Dunkirk evacuation.

On Sunday there was a fly-past by the Avro Lancaster bomber from the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
