Aldeburgh beach has played host to artists and their work many times over the years – from Maggie Hambling’s controversial Scallop sculpture to this year’s performance of Peter Grimes.
But this weekend it saw one of the most memorable sights as performance artist Declan Jenkins brought his latest work to the beach.
His performance, “Endometry of the Green Epoch,” attracted a keen group of art lovers to the South Lookout on the beach.
He was joined by Warren Andrews in the performance described as “Gauchley erudite, his work looks to subvert the language of art criticism, and in the process produces an Art of extreme self-consciousness, in which grand gestures are performed with clownish awkwardness.”
Jenkins was awarded the Royal Academy Schools Aldeburgh Lookout residency prize for decadent Dada and poetical performance.
