Two nights of dramatic thunderstorms have lit up Suffolk and Essex.

Spectacular lightning and rumbling thunder and hot, sticky nights may have kept people awake – but they have produced some stunning images from readers.

Pete Inman captured a superb shot of lightning over the sea taken at Holland On Sea, looking towards Clacton pier.

He said: “I used manual exposure, and took a series of shots of 30s. If lightning happened in that time then I stopped the exposure. Camera settings were F9, ISO800 and obviously manual focus which was done whilst there was light about.”

Forecasters Weatherquest expect temperatures in the Ipswich area to be around 24c or 25C over the next few days, possibly getting slightly higher by Thursday.

Today and tomorrow are expected to be mostly overcast with some sunshine and the chance of some rain later, brightening up Tuesday and becoming settled by midweek.
