Today we reveal our top ten pictures of the year from our talented photographers.
From newborn meerkats to a horse with a huge grin, these snaps are the cream of the crop.
As we enter a new year, we have chosen the 50 best pictures taken over the last 12 months.
The winning image is of a minke whale stranded on Shingle Street, taken by Sarah Lucy Brown. The whale, which was rarely seen on our region’s coastline, died after beaching. The composition of the shot is spot on and lighting complements the sombre mood of the story.
This was a classic case of a picture telling a thousand words.
