Author and tv personality Alan Titchmarsh visited Waitrose in Futura Park on Friday, 28 March for a book signing.

TV presenter Alan Titchmarsh caused a stir in Ipswich today when he signed copies of his new book at a supermarket.

The acclaimed gardener met with dozens of fans at Waitrose in Futura Park, Ransomes Way, at lunchtime for a book signing for his new novel, Bring Me Home.

The writer is also the new gardening ambassador for Waitrose, a role he admitted he relishes when interviewed by this paper.

“My life’s work is trying to make popular, understandable and not shrouded in mystery,” he said.

He said gardening was “90% common sense” and that this was a chance to spread the word on broader stage.

Bring Me Home is, says Alan, “a romantic mystery. It’s about a chap called Charlie Stuart who inherits a castle where something dreadful happened but we don’t know what.

“He’s got to go and break it to his children that their lives are about to be shattered by the events which have just occurred.”
