Harwich: Wattisham rescue team airlift injured crewman to Ipswich Hospital

A man aboard a Dutch dredging vessel off the Essex coast has been airlifted to hospital this morning.

The man suffered head injuries and was knocked unconscious on board the DC Vlaandern 3000 in the Sunk Traffic Separation Scheme, approximately 15 miles from Harwich.

A crew from Wattisham air base winched the man onto the Sea King rescue helicopter.

They flew the patient to Ipswich Hospital.

He had regained consciousness on arrival and is not thought to be seriously injured.

Suffolk Police have launched a double murder investigation after two men died after being stabbed in Ipswich on Thursday.

A man and a teenage boy were stabbed this afternoon in Ipswich at West Meadows near the Whitehouse Interchange.
