Year 3 pupils at Hillside Primary School in Belstead Avenue enjoyed a visit from David Brunning, a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) ambassador and a project engineer at Ipswich-based Ingent Consulting Engineers Limited.

The class has been looking at structures, so Mr Brunning helped them to create their own constructions using food items.

The children worked in teams to see who could build the tallest free-standing structure, before getting the chance to try on the hard hats and hi-visibility jackets that the engineers wear when they go on site visits.

Teacher Gemma Jamieson said: “We had a fantastic afternoon and enjoyed learning about what David does in his role as a project engineer.”
