Police have detained a man on suspicion of drink-driving after a car came off a road and crashed.

Officers were called to the B1115 in Hitcham, near Stowmarket, on the morning of January 20.

The man, 41 and from the Hitcham area, was found by the Fiat people carrier after it had crashed between 11.30pm on January 19 and 12.30am the following morning.

He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, as he said he had been made unconscious at the time of the crash.

A police spokeswoman said that while he was there blood tests were carried out. Officers are now waiting for the results to decide whether to carry out further action.
