Hotshot Charlie sets sights on living hypercar dream

Archant

Charlie Adams enjoyed life in the fast lane when he found himself surrounded by supercars and hypercars on the streets of Monaco.

The eight-year-old was so struck by the star cars, he normally only sees on his Playstation game, that he grabbed the camera belonging to his father – Archant Norfolk picture editor Steve Adams – and started snapping away.

And here are some of his magnificent motoring memories from his family holiday in Monaco where ladies who lunch drive McLarens and Ferraris and you spot such race-bred rarities in the millionaires’ playground as a Porsche 918 Spyder, costing a cool 781,155 euros, and an Aston Martin One-77 with a price tag of more than £1.1m.

Father Steve said: “It was the aftermath of the grand prix and all around were the remnants of the racing icing on Monaco’s cake. We parked up and his eyes were starting to pop out of his head as he noticed that the cars in Monaco were more exotic than those in Norwich.”

It was near the harbour, in the Place du Casino, where ladies were arriving for lunch at a hotel and leaving a bright orange McLaren and red Ferraris to be parked, that Charlie, whose interest in fast cars has taken off since playing Need for Speed Most Wanted on his PlayStation, started taking pictures of the eye-catchingly exotic sets of wheels. The family even came across a dealership full of Ferraris awaiting servicing a maintenance.

And Charlie, whose top hypercar is a Koenigsegg Agera R, got to see another of his favourite hypercars – a Bugatti Veyron – while touring Monaco on a tourist bus and grabbed a picture.

“Porsches and Ferraris have become a bit passe now,“ said Steve.
