The rubbish, which contained old mattresses, furniture, rugs and clothes was left on the corner of Norwich Road and Bramford Road outside the Ipswich Kurdish Islamic Cultural Centre on Saturday.

Some had been stripped from inside the mosque, which is undergoing an extension, but more had reportedly been fly-tipped.

However, after staff asked contractors to keep the area clear, the rubbish has mostly been removed.

Imam Taha Muhamed said: “I was talking with them [contractors] at the weekend and said we need to clear everything up.

“We should be more careful about these things, and I have said that I don’t want to throw anything to the front area, so that is what they have done.”

Work on the extension began two weeks ago and is due to be finished by Spring.
