Hundreds got the chance to meet Cardinal Wolsey in the flesh at Christchurch Park in Ipswich at the weekend.
The event marked the opening of an exhibition at Christchurch Mansion - Thomas Wolsey: Ipswich’s Greatest Son - which celebrates the life of one of the most influential men in Europe in the 15th century.
The exhibition attracted around 350 people, more than double the number who visit most weekends.
Cllr Carole Jones, Ipswich Borough Council’s museums service portfolio holder, said: “We have marked the first weekend of the Ipswich’s Greatest Son exhibition with some really popular sessions for visitors. With both Cardinal Wolsey and Anne Boleyn in attendance the Mansion has more than doubled its average weekend attendance. People of all ages have been saying hello to our most famous son and then exploring the magnificent angels that are being shown in Wolsey’s home town for the first time.”
