A cancer charity has received a boost from generous fans of comedian Sarah Millican.
The audience at her packed stand-up show in the Regent Theatre donated £1,879 during the end of show collection for Macmillan Cancer Support.
That’s on top of £1,942 collected after her two shows in September bring the total to almost £4,000.
Mandy Jordan, fundraising manager at Macmillan, said: Macmillan wants to improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer but currently we can only reach one in two people.
“The fantastic amount of money raised by Regent Theatre staff and their customers will make a lasting difference to the lives of many people and we are extremely grateful to them for supporting us.”
Councillor Bryony Rudkin, culture portfolio-holder, said: “Our Regent audiences are a lovely lot and it is to their credit that so much was raised from just four shows.
“Sarah Millican is not only very funny she also has a big heart and her support for Macmillan Cancer Support is doing so much good.”
