Archant

Traffic has been disrupted in Ipswich due to a broken down bus.

One lane of the A14 is blocked and traffic is queueing on the A14 eastbound carriageway between J54, Sproughton and J55 at the Copdock Interchange.

There is congestion back to J53 at the Whitehous Interchange.

  • Back in the good old days when the compensation culture was not so rampant and risk assessments had to be taken with every thing, the Police would have hooked this bus up to the Range Rover they had and pulled this blockage out of the way...or had one of the wheels come off???

  • citizen...are you for real??? How heavy is an empty bus..double decker or not... A Range Rover could EASILY pull this bus providing it freewheels and has not seized in any way. Blimey...I'm not talking about towing it miles and miles but off at the nearest junction OR layby.

  • Highways agency please note, another place to put average speed cameras as that would mean everyone would be going slow and if the bus was going slower maybe it would not have broken down. It would also fill another hole in your attempt to put average speed cameras along the whole A14 between Felixstowe and Cambridge.

  • The bus can't have been going that fast, it was a clapped out double decker. And since when could a police range rover tow a double decker bus?

  • A car could pull an empty decker off the road. Let alone a range rover. But no they wouldnt pull it because that would mean having to get out of the nice donated range rover ( instead of racing it round wasting fuel) and get their hands dirty. NOW if the TV cameras were on them for a documentary they would have PUSHED it off so they can look good in front of the camera wouldnt they.
