A CYCLIST who suffered a serious head injury in a collision with a car in Ipswich is today conscious and sitting up.
Landseer Road was closed for several hours due to the incident, which happened just before 5pm on Wednesday night, at the junction with Sandy Lane.
The man, aged 33 and from Ipswich, was initially taken to Ipswich Hospital with a serious head injury but he was then transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he was treated in the Neuro Critical Care Unit.
A spokesman for Suffolk Police confirmed that as of last night, the man was conscious, sitting up and able to talk and he has now been transferred back to a normal ward.
The driver of the vehicle involved, a green Peugeot 106, was uninjured.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident. Calls should be made to Suffolk Police on 101.
