A man who was arrested during a drugs raid by police at a flat in Ipswich has been locked up for two years.

Islam Whetter, 19, travelled to Ipswich from his home in Hemel Hempstead to sell cocaine and heroin and was arrested in a flat in St George’s Street on April 11 during a police operation, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Whetter admitted possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply, supplying cocaine and heroin and acquiring criminal property and was sentenced to two years detention in a young offenders institution. Judge David Goodin made a confiscation order in respect of £220 found on Whetter when he was arrested.

Robert Sadd, prosecuting said Whetter had come to Ipswich to sell drugs and described him as a “street dealer.”

He said Whetter told police that from £800 worth of drugs he was to receive £300 and his “line manager” would have had £500.
