A STREAM of festive fundraisers are set to run through the town centre this weekend – all in the name of a good cause.

More than 220 people have signed up to take part in the Ipswich Santa Run for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) on Sunday morning, but organisers have encouraged anyone wanting to take part to show up on the day and get involved.

The 3km run starts at the Town Hall, snaking through the town and finishing back on the Cornhill.

Patsy Johnson-Cisse, of EACH’s fundraising team, said: “I’m really looking forward to it, especially because we have a new route which will take us through the town centre.

“I hope lots of people come and watch and support us all.

“There are lots of people taking part, including some of our families who have first-hand experience with EACH.

“There are lots of children doing it too. Since registration closed last week, the phone hasn’t stopped ringing and we are asking anyone who wants to do it to show up on the day and take part.”

The event cost 10 for those over 14 years old and includes a Santa suit. It is 8 without the suit and 5 for under-13s.

Anyone wanting to take part can sign up on the day but must arrive on the Cornhill by 9.30am.
