Staff at a town centre jewellers in Ipswich targeted by thieves have released CCTV images of the two female suspects in a bid to bring them to justice.

A tray of rings worth £4,000 was stolen during a distraction burglary at Gold & Silver Buyers in Upper Brook Street at around 4.30pm on Thursday.

The items were taken from a cabinet by a woman while her female accomplice distracted a shop assistant.

Rebecca Newcombe, director at the independent jewellers, has released CCTV images of the two female suspects in an attempt to help people identify the pair.

“It was obviously a bit of a blow,” she said.

“We have stepped up security measures and hope people recognise the two women.”

The first woman is described as being aged between late 50s and early 60s, around 5ft 6ins, had brown coloured hair tied back, had a number of gold teeth, was of a large build and was wearing a blue cardigan, floral patterned top, long denim skirt, black leather open-toed sandals and red socks. She was holding a small handbag.

The second woman is described as being aged in her late 20 to early 30s, around 5ft 6ins tall, of a large build, had dark hair tied back, two gold front teeth and was wearing a white cardigan, dark-coloured trousers and was carrying a large handbag.

Witnesses or people with information relating to this incident are urged to call police on 101.
