A new Iceland store is to open in Ipswich’s Tower Ramparts shopping centre at the end of the month.

The new store, created from the upper ground floor of the former Littlewoods department store in the shopping centre, is due to open its doors for the first time on April 29.

There has been considerable engineering work over recent months to convert the former department store, built over three floors, into three separate shop units.

Store Manager Rob McDonald said: “We are delighted to be opening our new store in Tower Ramparts Shopping Centre.

“We will be creating around 28 new jobs for the area, and as we have been voted the Best Big Company to work for in 2012 and 2014, we are sure there will be a lot happy faces to greet our customers on opening day.”

The company’s existing store in St Matthews Street will remain open.

Iceland will be opening just weeks after the lower ground floor unit beneath it opened as a Poundland – which is in addition to the existing store in Carr Street.
