A 29-year-old Ipswich man has been arrested today on suspicion of sexual offences on women.

The suspect was detained when police went to a property in the town at around 7.30am.

The arrest came after three women were sexually assaulted in Ipswich town Centre.

Officers also believe at least one other similar incident is linked and are still asking the woman involved to come forward.

This occurred in the St Matthew’s Street subway at approximately 1.50pm on Monday ten minutes before a teenager was assaulted.

The suspect is currently being held at the police investigation centre in Martlesham.

A 17-year-old woman has told police she was sexually assaulted in Crown Street, opposite Crown House, at around 2pm on Monday.

A man approached her and placed his hand up her skirt, touching her legs. He then said sorry and ran off towards the nearby bus station.

On April 23, a woman told police she was near the entrance of the Wolsey Theatre in Civic Drive when a man approached her from behind and put his hand up her dress before running off.

The incident took place at around 1.50pm.

On the following day, a woman in a Dorothy Perkins shop in the Cornhill was approached by a man as she bent down to pick up an item. He put his hand up her skirt before apologising and walking out.

If anyone has been subjected to a similar assault or has information which could help the inquiry they should telephone Suffolk police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
