Police have arrested a man following an assault in Ipswich.

The incident happened in a playground in Chesterton Close between midnight and 12.30am on February 13.

A 23-year-old man was assaulted by another man who approached him from behind, and then ran off.

The victim sustained swelling to his arm, knee and cheek as a result of the attack.

Police released an appeal for information and e-fit likeness of the offender and on Friday arrested a 23 year old Ipswich man on suspicion of assault.

He has since been released on police bail and will return to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre on June 20 this year.
