A man is to appear in court after a police investigation following the arrest of four suspects after a reported disturbance outside a pub in Maidenhall Approach.

Lee Wisbey, of Maidenhall Green, Ipswich, is the second person to be charged in relation to the incident, which was said to have occurred outside The Smock and the parade of shops nearby.

The 25-year-old was bailed to the Martlesham police investigation centre today.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary said Wisbey has now been charged with assault and threatening behaviour.

He has been released on bail until the first hearing of his case, which will take place before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on February 17.

Police received reports of a disturbance at 8.40pm on Friday, November 23

At the time officers said a man in his 20s sustained minor head injuries during the incident.

Another suspect, a 44-year-old man from Ipswich, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and remains on bail pending further enquiries.

A 22-year-old man from Ipswich was also detained on suspicion of causing an affray, but shortly afterwards police said he would face no further police action.

In December another 22-year-old man was jailed for 16 months by Ipswich Crown Court after admitting affray and being in breach of a restraining order banning him from Maidenhall Approach.
