A man in his 70s suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Ipswich today.

Emergency crews were called to the junction of Cliff Lane and Landseer Road following reports of the collision at around 11.45am.

Paramedics treated a man in his 70s who had sustained facial injuries not believed to be life threatening before he was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment, an East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said.

The incident caused traffic delays for a number of hours as engineers worked to clear an oil spill.

Traffic had returned to normal by the middle of the afternoon.

The incident involved a black Fiat and a red Mitsubishi.
