A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman reported being attacked in the Cromer Road area of Ipswich on Monday evening.

The woman, 27, called police at about 10.40pm on Monday reporting that she had been grabbed by a man and raped that evening.

She told officers she had been walking along Cromer Road towards Bramford Lane at about 8.30pm when she was approached by a man who initially asked her the time but then took hold of her, pulled her into an area where bins are stored and raped her.

A 21-year-old man was arrested this afternoon and taken into custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, where he is being interviewed by detectives.
