A 71-year-old man who helped run a brothel in the town has been told by a judge to sell his car to pay a court order.

Peter Yallop was arrested during a raid at the Angels massage parlour in Woodbridge Road and last September he was given an eight-month prison sentence suspended for two years after he admitted assisting in the management of a brothel.

Yesterday Yallop, of St Clements Church Lane, returned to Ipswich Crown Court for a confiscation hearing and was ordered to pay a total of £467.52.

Charles Myatt, prosecuting, told the court that Yallop’s benefit from crime was £8,217.

But his available assets were £167 cash found on him by police when they arrested him and a £300 Volkswagen Passat car.

Judge David Goodin made a confiscation order in the sum of £467.52 and ordered Yallop to sell his car within six weeks.

Also before the court was Danny Burrows, 63, of Cherry Blossom Close, Ipswich, who was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years last October after admitting managing a brothel. His confiscation hearing was adjourned for two weeks to allow further inquiries to be carried out.

At an earlier hearing the court heard that Angels had been advertised on the internet and in newspapers and police officers used undercover officers to pose as customers after becoming suspicious that the premises were being operated as a brothel.

After his arrest, Yallop said he ran errands for Burrows and ran the girls working at the brothel around.

Ronald Jaffa for Yallop said his client was in poor health and had assisted in the management of the brothel for “pocket money.”
