Permission is being sought by developers to create a major housing estate on vacant land in the north west area of Ipswich.

Town planners will discuss the proposal for outline planning permission for 60 houses and 34 flats, around the Eastway Business Park near Europa Way, at a meeting next week.

As well as the dwellings, the proposal would also see a new access road created, in addition to landscaping, open space, play areas and a car park.

The amount of the homes that will be affordable is not yet known.

According to the plans, submitted to Ipswich Borough Council by Inland Homes, the development will include a combination of three and two storey blocks.

There are also five different types of properties which have been suggested for the site – one and two bed flats and two, three and four bed houses.

A report which has been sent to planners reads: “The residential development as proposed is considered to be compliant with planning policy having regard to the design and layout and scale of development proposed.”

The application has come as new housing projects continue to forge ahead in the town.

This includes a £36million development at Stoke Quay and a number of council housing developments which have been earmarked for various areas of the town.

The outline planning permission application will be discussed by the planning and development committee on Wednesday.
