Police in Ipswich have arrested a man after discovering a damaged car early this morning near the Holiday Inn.

The silver Vauxhall Corsa was found around 4.20am having rolled onto the roundabout near the hotel in The Havens. The indicators and lights were still on.

The car had gone straight over an island in the road damaging a chevron however the driver was not there. He was eventually found near the entrance to John Grose and detained for failing to provide a specimen of breath.

Police remain at the scene awaiting recovery of the vehicle.
