Ipswich: Police still on the lookout for ‘man in van’ outside schools

PARENTS and teachers are still on the alert after a police warning about a man in a van approaching children outside schools in Ipswich.

Suffolk Police issued the warning after receiving information about a van driving near to schools and a man asking pupils to get in.

Officers from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) were asked to inform schools in Ipswich of the potential threat, but a spokesman for Suffolk Police said that there had not been any incidents of accostings reported to police in Ipswich and the warning was a precaution.

He said: “It’s still just a precautionary message. Obviously, we’re asking people to give us any information if they see anything suspicious and we’re still looking into it.”

Police currently have no information to corroborate the initial report, but investigations are ongoing and schools and parents are being warned to remain vigilant.
