Ipswich: Police warn motorists to secure their cars after eight vehicles broken into

A spate of thefts from vehicles in the Purdis Farm/Woodrush Road area of Ipswich has seen police urge drivers not to leave valuables in their cars.

At least eight vehicles were targeted over the night of April 3/4.

A sat nav system and a handbag with a large black purse in containing cash and cards were stolen from a Skoda Fabia parked in Woodrush Road. The handbag was later recovered minus the purse.

A small amount of change was stolen from three vehicles – another Skoda Fabia parked in Woodrush Road, a Vauxhall Astra in Bramble Drive and a Ford Focus parked in Hazel Drive.

A Ford Fiesta parked in Dogwood Close was entered, searched and items moved around, with a pair of sunglasses being stolen and an Audi in the same road was entered but nothing was stolen.

A Mini in Foxglove Crescent was also entered and searched although it appears nothing was stolen, while a mobile phone hands free holder was taken from a Ford Fiesta in Blackthorn Close.

Police are continuing to urge motorists not to leave any items of value in vehicles and to check you have locked it before leaving it unattended.
