East Anglian Daily Times reporter Lauren Everitt is edging closer to her fundraising goal as she prepares to take on this year’s Virgin London Marathon.

The 25-year-old, from Holbrook, is now more than a quarter of the way towards the £2,000 she needs to raise for St Elizabeth Hospice, after successfully applying for one of the charity’s Gold Bond places.

Funds have come from a cake sale, online donations and £200 corporate sponsorship from Highcliff Veterinary Practice.

In total, more than £600 has been raised so far.

She said: “I am so pleased with how much has been raised but I know there is still a long way to go.

“I have always wanted to do the marathon and am pleased to be doing it for such a worthy local cause.”

The 26.2-mile race takes place on April 13.
