The town’s mayor Sarah Barber cut the ribbon at the improved Rosehill Library, in Tomline Road, on Tuesday after a five-week closure.

The work was funded by Suffolk County Council and the library now boasts a fully accessible public toilet with baby changing facilities, a new extension to provide additional storage, fresh carpet, a staff area and kitchen facilities to provide refreshments for events.

Kate Byford, Rosehill Library manager, said: “We’re very pleased with the result of this project and the library looks much brighter and more welcoming now. Regular customers were queuing to get in when the library reopened and everyone seemed delighted with the new-look library.”

Rosehill Library is 112 years old and the last significant improvement work was carried out in 2003.

Throughout the closure period customers were able to use any other Suffolk library.
