Gorgi Upton, nine, who goes to Brittania Primary School, will split the money she has raised between East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and St Elizabeth Hospice.

Gorgi faced the chop at St John’s Conservative club in Ipswich on New Year’s Eve - the same day as her brother Alfie’s eighth birthday.

She will also donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which creates wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Gorgi’s mum Sharon, said she was very proud of her generous daughter.

“Her hair was all the way down her back - she has a little bob now,” she said.

“She is getting used to her new haircut now.

“She found it hard at first because she’s not used to her hair getting in her face.”
