More than 200 men were tested for prostate cancer during a screening event held at Ipswich Town Football Club.

The event at Portman Road on Saturday, November 18 was organised by CHAPS Men’s Health Charity and the East Suffolk Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Ipswich Town legend Titus Bramble was among those who underwent a prostate specific antigen blood test to screen for prostate cancer, which kills more then 11,000 men in the UK every year.

The blood samples were analysed at Ipswich Hospital.

Of the 208 participants, 194 were given the all clear while 14 had abnormal results and will need further investigation.

Funding for the event was provided by the Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal.

Mr Kilby stepped down as chairman of Burnley Football Club when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and he has since worked tirelessly to promote screening events at football grounds.
