The father of a young tennis player from Ipswich has spoken of his pride after watching his daughter perform the coin toss on centre court.

Little Elle Robus-Miller, nine, also helped to put up the net ahead of the clash between last year’s beaten women’s finalist Sabine Lisicki and Julia Glushko on Tuesday.

Elle was chosen after the All England Club approached the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis for a young player to flip the coin in memory of the former British number one, who died from liver cancer in May.

As well as the coin toss and watching the game, Elle and her family also saw former champion Rafael Nadal, her favourite player, defeat Martin Klizan.

Elle’s dad Kevin Miller said: “It was a fantastic day.

“I was very proud. There are not many people who get out on centre court.

“At nine years old, she’s representing Elena. I was very proud.”
