A brave 21-year-old, who suffers from a life-threatening condition, is set to shave her head in memory of her beloved sister.

On November 30, Marie Wright will sit in the hairdresser’s chair and watch her long locks transform into a short crop as a tribute to her sister Sabrina Wright, who was 20 when she lost her battle with leukaemia seven years ago.

The hair they cut off will be donated to the charity the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who lose their hair to chemotherapy.

Marie, who suffers from cystic fibrosis and also wants to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust, said: “For Sabrina losing her hair was one of the biggest things she faced. She didn’t want to watch it fall out in clumps so she shaved her head and her wig meant everything to her.”

Remembering her only sister, she added: “She was the loud character in the family, so we all really miss her. Her loss has had a big impact on us all, that’s why she was my inspiration to do this.”

Marie, who lives with her parents in Renfrew Road, added: “I am currently on the transplant list, waiting for a heart and lung transplant – I have been for two years.

“My twin brother John also has the disease. I don’t let myself think about the wait, I won’t think about it until I get that call. Otherwise you live your life watching the phone.”
