Mum Shelley Fountain said she received a phone call from a man who reeled off a list of abusive threats aimed at the young brain tumour sufferer and his three siblings.

Mason is today preparing to launch his Mason’s Magic, an official fundraising group supporting the national charity Brain Tumour UK, next month to mark brain tumour awareness month.

The Gusford Primary School pupil was inspired to set up the group to realise his dream of helping children like him, living with brain tumours.

Rumours have emerged on the social networking site Twitter over the legitmacy of Mason’s Magic.

Mrs Fountain told the Star, among the claims made by the mystery caller, were allegations of fraud and Mason’s Magic “posing as a charity”. But she hit back at the claims revealing her son’s venuture is a legitmate branch of the national charity Brain Tumour UK.

“I am terrified, “ she said. “We were going to give it all up but I am not going to let something like this stop Mason helping other children.

“We are going ahead with the launch, with the full backing of Brain Tumour UK. It is taking place next month.” A spokesman for Brain Tumour UK said: “Mason’s Magic is an official fundraising group, supporting Brain Tumour UK. We value the relationship we have with them and they are doing great work for us.”

A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers are today investigating the death threats and confirmed there are no fraud investigations in relation to the Fountain family or Mason’s Magic.

He said: “There are no investigations into the charity Mason’s Magic fraudulent or otherwise.

“We have received reports of threats made to the family which are being investigated by officers.”
