FORMER Ipswich Town boss Joe Royle today tipped Harry Redknapp as the next England manager.
The inspirational Spurs manager was given the Royle seal of approval after a dramatic night at FA headquarters which saw Fabio Capello depart after clashing with his bosses over the England captaincy.
Capello, who opened Suffolk New College’s brand new campus in Ipswich just two years ago, resigned in the wake of John Terry being stripped of the Three Lions team captaincy by FA bosses.
Former England striker Royle, a huge favourite with Ipswich fans during his time at Portman Road, said of Capello: “I felt that he had no option after the Terry decision was taken from him.”
Of the next England boss, the former Ipswich manager, who had successful spells at Oldham, Everton, and Manchester City, said: “Only Harry Redknapp has the criteria for me.”
Capello’s decision was announced after crisis talks with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne at Wembley.
Redknapp has yet to say whether he would take the job.
