Six-year-old Brooke Lawrance will undergo a life-changing operation in November which could enable her to take her first steps.

Brooke, of Morland Road, Ipswich, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since.

Her parents Sarah and Peter Lawrance have been fundraising since last October to raise the £70,000 needed for the pioneering selective dorsal rhizotomy operation at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri, America.

The whole family, including Brooke’s two sisters, Nadine and Neve, and brother Samuel, will fly to America a few days before the surgery on November 15.

Upcoming fundraisers include a team climbing Mount Everest, a ladies night and gents evening.

To date, the family have raised more than £55,000.
