HAPPY Days - the coolest man on earth is coming to Ipswich.

The Fonz, aka Henry Winkler OBE, will be swinging by next week to hang out with the kids - and revealing struggles from his own youth.

New Yorker Winkler rocketed to world-wide fame in 1974 when he landed the role of Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli in the US TV mega-hit Happy Days.

The sitcom - which ran for a decade and has been heavily repeated meaning the Fonz remains popular across the generations - was set in the 1950s and made fellow actors Ron Howard and Tom Bosley household names as well as Winkler.

But now Fonzie is swapping Arnold’s Drive-In diner for Halifax Primary School in a bid to educate children about learning difficulties.

Winkler himself is dyslexic and struggled at school. But now he has teamed education charity Achievement for All 3As and children’s newspaper First News to spread the word that all people learn in different ways - even the Fonz.

It is a cause which Winkler has even highlighted through a series of books he has written about boy called Hank Zipzer who is clever but has learning difficulties.

During the visit he will tell the children his own story and answer any questions they might have.

Winkler will be joined by Nicky Cox, editor of First News, who will be emphasising the message of the campaign: “The things that make us different make us special.”

An alleged child sex offence is recorded by police almost every four hours in Suffolk and Essex in total, an investigation has revealed.

Are you stuck for what to do to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend?

A burglar who was part of a gang that vandalised an Ipswich town centre cafe has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Like the famous green benches of the House of Commons, the police are part of the fabric of Westminster.

Upper Brook Street is one of the oldest streets in Ipswich and over the centuries it has been home to several public houses and inns, writes David Kindred.

This Sunday sees the start of the 101st year of British Summer Time (BST) as we put the clocks forward one hour at 1am – losing 60 minutes in bed but gaining lighter evenings to enjoy in spring and summer.

MPs from Suffolk and Essex were caught up in the drama around Westminster – with several caught in the lockdown at the House of Commons as they voted in the Chamber.

Four people have died and around 20 injured after a terrorist attack in the capital today.

At least five people have died and around 40 people have been injured after a knife-wielding man drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London before stabbing a police officer outside the Houses of Parliament in an apparent terrorist attack.
