Ipswich singer Jade Mayjean Peters has been knocked out of BBC singing contest The Voice.

Having earned rave reviews from judges throughout previous rounds, the 21-year-old was left out of coach Kylie Minogue’s final three for the live shows.

Kylie had to decide which contestants she should champion for the closing rounds of the show tonight.

However, despite missing out following her performance of Blue Moon, there is still much to look forward to for Jade, a former Northgate High School pupil, who will be starring in her own concert in Ipswich’s Corn Exchange on September 6.

Meanwhile Kylie also decided to drop Femi Santiago despite stealing him from Will.i.am’s team days earlier after being impressed when he serenaded her during the battle round of the show. Will even told her she should have kept him on her side for the live section of the BBC1 series.

Another departure which will have surprised viewers was Leo Ihenacho - known as Leo The Lion - who has been vocal about his crush on Kylie. The singer had been expected to make it through but Kylie instead pinned her hopes on Jamie Johnson, Lee Glasson and Rachael O’Connor.

Ihenacho, 36, had already tasted pop success with a stint in now defunct chart act The Streets.

For this weekend’s knockout stage of the contest the coaches had to slim down their teams from seven contestants to three for the live quarter-finals.

Team Kylie:

Jamie Johnson, 19, from Gillingham

Lee Glasson, 31, from Coventry

Rachael O’Connor, 17, from Derry, Northern Ireland

  • Robotix: Mynogue is making an ass of herself on there - constantly playing up to the camera - a sad kinda prostitution at her age which I too would have thought she doesn't need to do with her salary.

  • Told ya a week ago it would happen. I work with someone who knows her. Was surprised that this round was actually filmed back in early Jan though... the sooner this lousy kinda tv viewing option is improved upon on a Saturday night, the better. Till then I use the off switch.

  • I used to have a lot of time for Kylie, but why she's on a show like this, I'll never know - she can't need the money. Rather than raising the standard of this show, she's lowered her own. Shame...
