A man who was arrested yesterday in Ipswich following a police manhunt including the police helicopter has been bailed.

The 49-year-old from Ipswich was detained near McGinty’s pub on suspicion of criminal damage and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre but was today bailed until May 7.

Yesterday at 4.30pm a member of the public reported seeing a man walking towards the Buttermarket holding a gun. Police sent units including an armed response team and a helicopter to search the town before making the arrest near McGinty’s.

Motorists in Suffolk are being warned to watch out for traffic delays as three abnormal loads slowly make their way long the county’s roads over the next two weeks.
