IPSWICH: An Ipswich man is to appear in court after allegedly throwing a missile on to the Portman Road pitch during Tuesday night’s game with West Ham.

He was one of three people to be arrested on the night.

Nine people were also ejected from the ground on public order offences during Town’s 5-1 win over the Championship leaders.

It is understood 42-year-old 
Nigel McAvennie is accused of 
hurling a coin on to the playing surface.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said McAvennie, of Riverside Road, was due to appear before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court on February 15. Another Ipswich man was arrested on suspicion of being of being drunk and disorderly at the game.

However, the 25-year-old accepted a caution, according to police.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man from Hornchurch, Essex, spent yesterday 
in custody at Martlesham police 
investigation centre.

He was being questioned after his arrest on suspicion of common assault.
