A man who was involved in a “violent melee” at an Ipswich nightspot during the early hours of New Year’s Day has walked free from court after a judge decided not to send him straight to prison.
Karwan Mohammed was seen on CCTV throwing punches and grappling with a man on the ground at the Vodka Revolution Bar, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Mohammed, 29, of Chat-ham, admitted assaulting Justinas Vingrys causing actual bodily harm.
He was given a four-month jail sentence suspended for two years and ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work in the community and pay £425 costs.
Juliet Donovan, prosecuting, said Mohammed had admitted assault on the basis that he had initially gone over to stop the fight but had ended up becoming involved.
