A man in his 20s suffered potentially life-threatening injuries when a fire tore through a derelict house in Ipswich this morning.
Police and the fire service were sent to the property, in Gippeswyk Road, at about 3.10am today when the alarm was raised.
Two men, aged 27 and 41, who appeared to have been living at the house, escaped from the building and were discovered outside – both suffered burns and were taken to Ipswich Hospital.
The 27-year-old also remains at Ipswich Hospital where he is described as being in a critical condition.
The blaze is being treated as suspicious. The area has been cordoned off while a joint investigation between police and the fire service takes place to find out the cause of the fire.
It is understood a further investigation will start at 8.30am.
Two fire crews were sent to the scene in Princes Street at about 3.05am. The fire is understood to have started on the ground floor but spread to the first floor.
Firefighters used a turntable ladder, two jets and a hose reel to bring the blaze under control.
