A crash on the Willoughby Road has caused traffic disruption around Ipswich railway station.

The two vehicle collision just off Burrell Road took place this morning just before 9am.

A silver Hyundai driven by a female collided with a red Seat with two females inside.

One of the women inside the Seat car received head injuries while the other received spinal injuries plus a cut to the head and was trapped in the car.

One fire engine from Ipswich East and a fire engine and rescue vehicle from Princes Street were called to the scene at 8.51am.

Firefighters cut the roof off the Seat car to release the woman who was trapped.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to Willoughby Road and the woman was taken to Ipswich Hospital, paramedics said she was stable on arrival.

Willoughby Road remains closed at one end however Burrell Road has been reopened.
