North east Ipswich reporter Lauren Everitt previously completed a skydive in aid of Brooke’s Wish to Walk and now she’s getting her trainers on for a massive marathon effort to help a town hospice.

Lauren, 24, is one of six runners taking part in the London Marathon on April 21 in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice.

Senior reporter Lauren applied for one of the hospice’s Gold Bond places, rather than going through the usual ballot.

“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, but I never really had the courage to it do before,” she said.

The dedicated 24-year-old has been training hard with her dad, Keith Everitt.

“My training’s going well and I’ll be stepping it up greatly after Christmas,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to it but I’m also quite apprehensive because I know what a huge task it is.

“My family and friends will all be there on the day, cheering me on. I’m not really bothered what time I finish in, as long as I finish, that’ll be a massive achievement.”

When is comes to the longer-distance training, Lauren will be calling on her brother, L/Cpl Liam Everitt of the Royal Engineers and she is also hoping to run a half marathon as part of her training.

Lauren has to raise £2,000 for the Foxhall Road hospice and she is looking for businesses to sponsor her effort.
