Cannabis found at property in Sandy Hill Lane


Four people are on police bail today after a mini-cannabis factory was found in east Ipswich.


Officers were alerted by a member of the public who reported seeing suspicious activity at an address in Sandy Hill Lane.

Police went to the address at 10.30am on Wednesday and found cannabis plants along with cultivation paraphernalia at the property.

A total of 24 plants were found after a search of the premises and a car related to its occupants.

Two men and two women were taken into custody.

Lisa Miller, a spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary, said: “A 25-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, 28-year-old woman, and a 22-year-old woman, all from Ipswich, were all arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.

“They were taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

“All four have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

“They are bailed to return to the police investigation centre on April 9.

It is the second cannabis factory found in Ipswich within three weeks.

Last last month illegal immigrant Ardian Daci, of Oxford Drive, Hadleigh, pleaded guilty before magistrates to being concerned in the production of cannabis at a house in Oxford Road, Ipswich.

The 24-year-old Albanian’s case has now been committed to crown court for sentencing.

Daci admitted tending to 60 plants.

Police were called to a report of three males smashing their way into a property at 4.26am on January 27. When officers arrived the discovered every room in the house was filled with cannabis growing. Mrs Harper said it was a large-scale operation. A majority of the plants had been harvested.
