A 40-year-old man has been charged with two counts of rape following an incident in Ipswich April 20.

A woman reported that she was raped in an alleyway near a car park off Lower Brook Street at around 2.35am.

Ali Shaboot of Ipswich was arrested at an address in the town yesterday on suspicion of rape and taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

He was later charged with two counts of rape and is being remanded in custody ahead of his court appearance, due tomorrow at Ipswich Magistrates Court.
