Ipswich: Proposal to change of use of buildings on hospice site to aid day unit extension

10:00 16 July 2014

Borough council planners will have the final say on the proposal

Borough council planners will have the final say on the proposal

Bosses at St Elizabeth Hospice are seeking permission to change the use of two of their buildings as part of a move to extend the Ipswich facility’s day unit.

The hospice wants to use the house on the site to provide offices for some of the charity’s non-clinical staff.

The house had previously been let out by the hospice, which provided an extra income stream for the charity.

The proposal will also see the bungalow at the Foxhall Road site then be converted to offices.

These will be used by the St Elizabeth Care Agency’s administration and management staff.

Planning permission was sent in last week to the borough council.

Following the submission, a spokesman for the hospice said: “We are currently extending our Day Unit at the hospice in Foxhall Road, Ipswich.

“When it is finished it will provide a bigger environment for our patients.

“As part of this development some of our non-clinical staff will move to new offices at the house and bungalow at the bottom of our drive on Foxhall Road.”

The hospice works with and helps to improve the lives of people living with a progressive illness.

Volunteers and workers at the hospice help people with a variety of problems including pain, anxiety and fatigue. Planners are expected to make a decision on the application by August 28.
