Ipswich singer Jade Mayjean Peters has made it through to the next round of the talent show The Voice.

The 21-year-old from Rushmere was judged to be the better singer in the BBC1 programme by the voting panel.

She had been up against double-act twin sisters Gemyni in her “battle” to reach the knock-out stages of the competition.

After Jade and Gemyni jointly performed the Britney Spears song Baby One More Time before the judges Will.i.am, Kylie Minogue, Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson, their mentor Kylie was asked to pick a winner.

She voted for Jade, who told Kylie: “Thank you so much. I will not let you down, I promise – I need a hug!”

Afterwards Jade said: Wow, that was so surreal.”

Earlier today she performed her own songs and covers of the likes of Amy Winehouse and Lorde in front of around 200 people in Christchurch Park.

Jade, who worked as a waitress before taking part in the show, thanked the crowd, made up mostly of young families for turning up.

  • And sarky sarge said she would lose against the twins, "you heard it here" he bleated. Sucker. Well done Jade, you are very talented and have a real good chance. We true normal people wish you well ( as any sensible kind person would).
