POLICE are investigating after a string of break-ins at retail premises in Ipswich town centre.
Five incidents were reported to Suffolk police in a week-long period.
The first happened when entry was forced to a garage at the back of a menswear shop in Upper Brook Street between 4.45pm on March 5 and 9.15am on March 6. Nothing was stolen.
Cash was stolen from a charity shop in Upper Brooke Street between 9pm on March 6 and 8am on March 7 when thieves broke into a safe.
The third incident happened when attempts were made to smash two windows of a retail property in Fore Street before the offenders broke in through a back door.
Cash, jewellery and alcohol were among the items stolen between 5pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.
Earlier this week cash was stolen from the till draw at a sandwich bar and a nail bar in High Street sometime between 6pm on Monday and 4.15am yesterday.
Officers are linking the two crimes in High Street while the others are not currently being linked.
Anyone with information should call Sergeant Nick Rush at the Ipswich Central Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.

These crimes will get worse, also muggings, burglary and shoplifting etc as soon as the benefit cuts come into place,it's just a shame these low life don't seem to realise the people they rob are probably as hard up and struggling as they are.

"the till draw"? More shoddy journalism from The Star. It's 'drawer'.
